is a primer for those wanting to start developing on PostgreSQL (on Ubuntu 12.10):
Getting Ubuntu ready for (PostgreSQL related) development
- sudo apt-get install build-essential
- sudo apt-get install git
- sudo apt-get install libxml2-dev
- sudo apt-get install libxslt-dev
- sudo apt-get install autotools-dev
- sudo apt-get install automake
- sudo apt-get install libreadline-dev
- sudo apt-get install zlib1g-dev
Get Postgresql source
- Download: http://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/source/v9.2.2/postgresql-9.2.2.tar.bz2
- tar -jxf postgresql-9.2.2.tar.bz2
- ./configure
- make
- make install
